Our mission

The mission of the Ottawa County Fair is to bring youth, young families, and adults of all ages together for agricultural education, affordable family fun, and recreation within a safe and friendly atmosphere. 

 

Our history

It started with a dream in 1959 to take a 50 acre parcel of overgrown land on Ottawa Beach Road, leased the parcel from Park Township, and turn in into one of the top 5 county fairs in The State of Michigan, according to Dave Vander Kooi, fomer long time board member of the Ottawa County Fair. "We are proud to offer West Michigan one of the finest family summertime attractions and cleanest facilities" said Vander Kooi. A lot of the credit for the clean facilities goes to Mrs. Viv Johnson, the 92 year old caretaker that has been a fixture at the fairgrounds for the past 35 years, according to Vander Kooi.

 

Big Rock Amusement will be bringing their top rides to the fairthis year July 22-27, 2013, and with the hundreds of FREE exhibits, flower show, 4 H animal exhibits, it promises to be to one of the years "to remember". Some of the finest food booths that have been a part of the fair for most of the 50+ years will return and keep the estimated 75,000 attendees "well fed."
