RULES FOR ALL EXHIBITORS
- Any amateur gardener may enter the show.
- Entry blanks should be in to the Superintendent by Monday, July 14, 2008.
- Entries may be placed as follows: Sat., July 19, from 9:00-11:00 am, Sun., July 20, from 2:00-4:00pm, Mon. July 21, 8:00-11:30 am. NO entries will be placed after 11:30 am on Monday, July 21.
- Exhibits must be removed between 9:00 and 11:00 am on Monday, July 28, 2008.
- In the Design Division exhibitors may enter as many classes as desired, but only one entry per class.
- All plant material used in exhibits should be correctly named on entry cards. In the Horticulture Division all varieties must be correctly named and grown by the exhibitor.
- The committee will furnish containers for cut specimens in the Horticulture Division.
- Containers used in the Design Division must be marked on the bottom with the exhibitor’s name. The committee will exercise all possible care but cannot be responsible for loss or breakage.
- No additional lighting allowed except that provided by the committee.
- Exhibitors MUST replace dead or wilted flowers daily or arrange for someone else to replace them.
- NO artificial plant material may be used. NO COLORING OF FRESH PLANT MATERIAL ALLOWED. Flowers and plants on the protected list of Michigan wildflowers may NOT be used unless grown by the exhibitor or obtained in a legal manner. Landscapes and scenes are not permitted in the Design Division.
- Plant material must be clean. NO TREATMENT of fresh plant material is allowed. (no waxing, oiling or spraying)
- No fresh fruit allowed in Designs.
- Framed and unframed art may be used in all design classes.
TYPES OF TABLES
- Functional Mode: Description
- Table exhibit planned and set for actual service of food; table could actually function for dining as displayed.
- Usually includes dishes, beverage container/s, table covering/s unless bare table top is attractive, and always includes a decorative unit, with or without other components.
- Coordination of all components must be balanced within overall space.
- Schedule may specify number or make-up of place settings, or allow designer to choose.
- Convenience and a sense of order must prevail. Buffet: Ease of service important. Components conveniently and logically placed for course being interpreted. (Flower Show H.B. pg. 218).

Judging will be by accredited judges using National Garden Clubs’ Standard System of Judging. The Standard System of Judging allows:
1st Place exhibits must score 90% or above.
2nd Place exhibits must score 85% or above.
3rd Place exhibits must score 80% or above.
Honorable Mention exhibits must score 75% or above.

RULES FOR HORTICULTURE EXHIBITORS
- Exhibitors may enter as many classes as desired and may enter more than one entry per class provided each is of a different cultivar, type or color. (Limit 3)
- All plant material MUST be grown by exhibitor.
- All specimens should have a minimal amount of foliage, except where flower and foliage are not directly connected to the same stem, example, Hemerocallis or Tritonia.
- Exhibitors MUST replace dead or wilted flowers daily by 12:00 noon.
- Any amateur gardener may exhibit.
- Wedging permitted- provided by the committee.
- Specimens may not be entered in “any other class” if a class has been provided.
- Additional subdividing not allowed due to Fair rules.
- Collection must be in possession of exhibitor for a minimum of 6 weeks.
