Ottawa County Fair Celebrates 52st Anniversary in 2010
It started with a dream 50 years ago to take a 50 acre parcel of overgrown land on Ottawa Beach Road, leased the parcel from Park Township, and turn in into one of the top 5 county fairs in The State of Michigan, according to Dave Vander Kooi, President of the 2008 Ottawa County Fair.
We are proud to offer West Michigan one of the finest family summertime attractions and cleanest facilities said Vander Kooi. A lot of the credit for the clean facilities goes to Mrs. Viv Johnson, the 88 year old caretaker that has been a fixture at the fairgrounds for the past 34 years, according to Vander Kooi.
Wade Shows will be bringing their top rides to the fair for the 50th consecutive year July 21-26 and with the hundreds of FREE exhibits, flower show, 4 H animal exhibits, it promises to be to one of the years “to remember” according to Earl Welling, Fair Manager. Some of the finest food booths that have been a part of the fair for most of the 50 years will return and keep the estimated 75,000 attendees “well fed” according to Brent Allan, Concession and Vendor Manager.
